Anything is Possible

As a hockey parent there are moments of clarity where one can see forever in all directions.

As I type this on my Blackberry I am in one of the front seats of a charter bus bound for Moose Jaw.

We have just passed through Moosomin, Whitewood, and we will see Balgonie, Regina and others as the miles roll out.

The snowfall this week has covered everything with the white of possibility.

Our Peewee players are headed to a tournament in Moose Jaw where they will also have the chance to watch a Wheat Kings road game against the Warriors.

As we travel the hockey movies play on the in-bus TV and the dreams roll in our boys minds and hearts.

We do not know what this weekend holds never mind the future for our young players.  Our only hope that matters is that through all of the ups and the downs of the game we create an opportunity for our children to learn... To learn who they are... To learn. To learn where they have come from. To dream and to dare to reach for what they might become.

Today our boys are on an adventure that may appear simple and for some who are cynical it may seem like a waste of time and energy and of course money.

As a hockey family we have made a conscious decision to allow our children to dream.

At this moment on a windswept snowy highway in Saskatchewan, where we can see for miles in every direction...

Anything is possible.
